This is a photo taken of Lambert taken in Cairo in 1915. Lambert sent this photo home to his Family. His mother took the photo and got it copied, then sent it as a postcard to Job (Annie's brother) in 1916.
Born in 1891 at Wallsend, NSW.
Late of the "Selections", Abermain, NSW.
Occupation - Grocer.
Enlisted in the AIF on the 18th April, 1915 at Liverpool, Sydney, NSW.
1st Regiment of the 17th Battalion. Rank Private. Service/Regimental Number 1503.
Age 24 years.
Embarked for England on the 12th May, 1915, H.M.A.T. "Themistocles".
Served for 4 years and 104 days. Was abroad for 4 years and 21 days.
Embarked for Australia on the 5th April, 1919 on the "Warwickshire".
Disembarked in Sydney on the 31st May, 1919.
Rank- Lieutenant Sergeant when discharged on the 30th August, 1919.

Lambert would have been a LANCE SERGEANT, not a Lieutenant Sergeant. This is a rank above corporal and below sergeant.
