Born July 1894 at Wallsend, NSW.



Occupation- Coalminer, Abermain, NSW.



Enlisted in the AIF on the 14th October, 1914. Rank Private. Service/Regimental Number 1406.


Age 20 years 3 months.



16th October 1914 papers signed at Rosehill,Sydney,NSW.



Joined the 13th Battalion, D Coy on the 21st December, 1914.



Disembarked Australia at Melbourne on H.M.A.T. A38 "Ulysses" on the 22nd December, 1914.



Military Medical Papers state Enlisted 1st October, 1914 and that he was in the 23rd Battalion, B coy which is different from enlistment papers.



Arrived England ?



Arrived Gallipoli?



Was wounded in Gallipoli on the 3rd May, 1915 with a GSW (gun shot wound) to jaw.



Was in hospital in the Egyptian Government Ophthalmic Hospital, Damanhour on the 7th May,1915.



Transferred to No 17 Gen; Hospital, Alexandria, Egypt on the 3rd June, 1915



Transferred to Glymenopoulo, Ramleh, Egypt on the 23 June, 1915.



Transferred to Conval:Depot Mustapha on the 15th July, 1915.



Transferred to 1/Aust.Gen.Hospital, Heliopolis on the 27th July,1915.



Disembarked the Suez on the ship "Thermistocles" on the 15th August, 1915.



Arrived Melbourne on the 9th September, 1915.



Was Discharged on medical reasons on the 27th November 1916.
